When Life is Sh*t… Where Do You Even Begin to Make it Better? Part 1

Down The Rabbit HoleWhere do you begin when it all gets too much,
When the darkness is so heavy
the light fades from your clutch

You can’t even recall that sense of peace,
Wherein blissed out moments
you would find your release

The rug has gone from under your feet,
mid-air you are falling,
the rabbit hole you retreat

A place of solitary sadness and despair
a dark tunnel to your decent
where no god it seems can hear your prayer

There is no feeling of hope to hold
All is lost, in your stories untold

But trust me darling…
In this place, there is gold.

The rabbit hole is a place we all go in this life… a place inside of us, that is part of us, where our shadows loom in the darkness of our soul …a sacred pilgrimage we must all take one day, this is as inevitable as death.

To walk the path of awakening we must go to the dark places to heal our hurt, to cry the tears we never shed, and feel what we never faced. Emotions that were too big to explore, pushed away and ignored… and into the rabbit hole we explore.

The truth is, it’s pretty scary down there…
How can we cope on the outside world when our spirit has journeyed into the abyss leaving our body to function in the real wold?

We stay present… (or we take the drugs and drink the wine!) But drugs and wine don’t hold the gift of the gold and will keep you in the same place, but numb…

Learning to become present will empower you towards change.

So for now you can only do one thing and that is to walk though life, one breath at a time, moment by moment… there is no time for ‘mind’ when your soul is in the abyss of the rabbit hole…

But know, the light will lead you back when you have done ‘your work’ – faced all you have avoided and learned to heal. It is not forever and in allowing the grief and sadness to come, to feel its hurt, knowing it has as much right to be heard as your laugher and love… you will find the light.

There is one thing that presence will enable you to do – it will give you the leverage to leave the rabbit hole when your work is done… to transform and transcend into a more evolved and enlightened being…

So if you’re numb and down the rabbit hole, your first commitment is to learn presence. To only pay attention to what is real… here and now, no past and no future. NO MIND.

To commit in training your mind muscle in the art of keeping focused in what is happening in this very second and away from what happened yesterday and what may happen later.

Begin to practice a simple step COME BACK TO BASICS, let go of trying to work everything out and BREATH!!!

YOUR BREATH IS YOUR ANCHOR TO LIFE. Breath in for 4 seconds, hold for 4 seconds, breath out for 4 seconds, hold for 4 seconds… repeat 4 times… and then relax..!

Learning how to stay present is such a gift, but its also a life time of work but it begins here.
Like Alice, you will shrink and grow, it’s a journey, and this blog will take you to places that will lead you to other places. It is a wonderful and miraculous journey.

And know, even though we are born alone, we die alone and we go down the rabbit hole alone…we’re all in this together – we and we can all cheer each other back up the rabbit hole on our assent back to the world.

ps – a little tip. In the dead of night when your mindfuckery is most powerful, if you feel your mind spinning into the places that terrify you, running on overdrive and creating more adrenaline that you can cope with, I would advise that you listening to an audio book on presence. Eckhart Tolle’s ‘The Power of Now’ is a wonderful guide; his voice is meditating and will give you something to focus on while you are learning to train your mind to stay present.
